BASIC WARRANTY INFORMATION

All Items that are not specifically listed as part of the ENGINE or POWER TRAIN warranty in the table are considered as part of the BASIC category. Chassis components also require maintenance such as lubrication of steering components, brake adjustments, and corrosion protection. The cost of normal maintenance as prescribed by HINO’s maintenance requirements is not a warranty matter. Failures due to lack of maintenance is also not considered a warranty matter.

BASIC DETAILS There are however some exceptions such as the following examples but not limited to; TIRES installed as Original equipment are covered by the tire manufacturer’s warranty. Defects with tires must be presented to the tire manufacturer’s representatives.

BATTERIES installed as Original equipment are covered for 16,000 kilometres, or 12 months, no charge parts and labour.

ACCESSORIES that are either supplied through HDTC’s parts accessory program and when installed by HDTC or the dealer may be covered by the specific manufacturer’s warranty. Items such as, but limited not to, radios, fifth wheels, mud flaps, mirrors air conditioner, and any such similar item, may have warranties that differ from the warranty coverage of the BASIC VEHICLE. In some cases the specific manufactures’ warranties may be greater than or less than the HINO’s NEW VEHICLE warranty and in some cases kilometre limits may apply. Please discuss the warranty terms of accessory items installed on your HINO TRUCK with your HINO sales representative. Accessories supplied and installed by the dealer are not covered by the HINO Standard Warranty. PAINT is covered for defects in material or workmanship for 12 months from the original delivery date.

TRIM. UPHOLSTERY and GLASS are covered for defects in material and workmanship for the first 90 days from the original delivery date. ADJUSTMENTS resulting from defects (not normal service adjustments) for items such as wheel alignment, wheel balance, headlight alignment, brakes, clutch, fasteners, rattles and other such adjustable items are limited to the first 90 days from the original delivery date. WEAR ITEMS. Windshield wiper blades, lamps, drive belts, fuses, are covered for defects in material and workmanship for the first 90 days from the original delivery date.

CONSUMABLES. Replacement of items such as oil, oil filters, antifreeze, coolant filters, fuel filters, air filters, lubricants and fuel, are not covered by this warranty. The cost of replacement will be accepted by HDTC only in cases where such replacement is required as a direct result of a defect covered by the HINO NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY.

THE HINO WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER Malfunctions caused by misuse, abuse, improper adjustments, modification, alteration, tampering, disconnection, improper or inadequate maintenance, or use of fuels not recommended for the engine. Damage resulting from accident, acts of God or other events beyond the control of HINO. A warranted part requiring replacement at an inspection or adjustment maintenance interval for reasons other than being defective. Use of unauthorized HINO service parts. Loss of time, inconvenience, loss of vehicle/engine or commercial loss. Any vehicle on which the odometer has been disconnected or the mileage has been altered so the actual engine usage can not be readily determined. Any vehicle registered and normally operated outside of Canada. Non HINO major components are covered separately by their maker. If the above are found to be defective, please contact your HINO dealer. This warranty does not cover damage or premature wear and tear or malfunctioning, caused by or contributed to, directly or indirectly by accident or collision, improper operation such as overload, parts replacements or modifications not authorized by HINO. This warranty does not cover damage due to environmental conditions such as but not Limited to airborne dirt (chemicals, resins etc.) salts used on roads, tornadoes and lightning, acts of God and other events beyond the control of HINO. Improper maintenance such as the failure to use fuel, oil and lubricants recommended in Owner’s & Driver’s Manual.

LIMITATIONS The warranties provided in this warranty, the obligations and liabilities of HINO:

(I) are exclusive and in substitution for all other warranties, guaranties, obligations, liabilities, rights and remedies, express or implied, arising by law or otherwise, including but not limited to, strict liability in tort, negligence, breach of contract, any implied warranty of merchantability, any implied warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade, and any implied warranty of fitness for particular purpose, and

(II) shall not be modified except by a written agreement. HINO shall not in any case be liable for incidental or consequential damages whether arising from theories of breach of warranty, breach of contract, negligence, strict Liability in tort, or any other legal theory. Costs due to ordinary maintenance such as washing, polishing, engine tuning, oil replenishment, oil filter, air filter, and fuel filter element change, brake and clutch lining change are not covered by this warranty. These costs are borne by the owner. Incidental or consequential damages such as but not limited to telephone calls, loss of time, inconvenience, or commercial loss are not covered. Conditions of normal noise and vibration are not covered by this warranty. Body Conversions and equipment and special bodies not made by HINO Motors Ltd. are not covered by this warranty. They are covered by their makers.
