Hino Motors Canada, Ltd. and Allison Transmission, Inc.

November 30, 2011 (MISSISSAUGA, Ont.) -- Hino Motors Canada, Ltd. Mr. Eric Smith, Vice President, Sales, announced today that Hino Motors Manufacturing in Detroit, U.S.A. and Allison Transmission, Inc. have recently signed a multi-year, long-term agreement that will make Allison Transmissions the preferred and exclusive automated transmission supplier in Class 6 & 7 trucks in North America.

By this new agreement, Hino Motors Canada, Ltd. will be able to offer its customers enhanced transmission coverage on Allison equipped vehicles. An enhancement to the warranty coverage on the 3000 Series means that all Allison 1000, 2000 and 3000 Rugged Duty Series(RDS) transmissions will be covered by a 3-year, unlimited kilometres warranty starting with 2013 model year trucks.

This agreement strengthens the already important relationship between Hino and Allison.

The Hino 195h Hybrid makes its debut in Canada!

April 7, 2011 (MISSISSAUGA, Ont.) -- Hino Motors Canada, Ltd. introduced its new 2012 Hino 195h Hybrid Class 5 truck chassis to Canada at the ExpoCam truck show in Montreal today. The 195h Hybrid truck was previously unveiled at the NTEA show in Indianapolis last month where it received rave reviews.

The Hino 195h utilizes advanced diesel-electric hybrid technology and Hino’s proven Selective Catalytic Reduction System to achieve major improvements in both fuel economy and engine exhaust emissions. The truck fully meets EPA2010 emission regulations, the most stringent in the world.

According to Eric Smith, Vice President of Sales for HMC, “The Hino 195h hybrid will be the first of its kind for the Class 5 truck market in North America. It will be ideally suited to pick-up and delivery applications where low average speed allows the hybrid system to develop large efficiency gains.” According to HMC, the hybrid is expected to arrive starting in December.

New Diesel-Powered COE
The newly designed cab and chassis will also be available in a Class 4 and Class 5 diesel engine only configuration starting September. All models are powered by Hino’s J05E Series engine producing 210hp and 440 lbs.-ft. of torque. The transmission is Aisin’s 6-speed fully automatic A465. Driver comfort is enhanced with a unique magnetic suspension seat in a cab designed to accommodate drivers up to 6’6” tall. The Class 4 truck will be rated at 14,500lbs GVW while the larger Class 5 truck will be rated at 19,500lbs GVW.

Hino to unveil new hybrid truck next month

February 24, 2011 (MISSISSAUGA, Ont.) -- Hino Motors Canada, Ltd. will be unveiling its diesel-electric hybrid system in a newly designed Class 4 and 5 cabover engine (COE) truck line-up during the 2011 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis.

Hino officials say the hybrid COE has been specifically engineered to meet the unique needs of the US and Canadian markets.

The unveiling will take place at the Work Truck Show in the Indiana Convention Center March 8. This event will be the first world debut of a North American diesel-electric hybrid COE truck, Hino said.

Hino Motors Canada Announces the All New Hino 198 Class 5 Model

July 23, 2010 (Mississauga, ON) – Hino Motors Canada, Ltd. is pleased to announce the all new Class 5 Hino 198 model for 2011.

The Hino 198 will be launched concurrently with the September launch of the Hino 2011 medium duty truck ("MDT") line-up.

The 2011 Hino 198 is built on a 19,500 lbs. GVWR truck chassis coupled to a 220 hp, 7.6 litre turbo charged Hino diesel engine. It will feature the bold styling of all the 2011 Hino MDT's. It will also utilize Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to fully comply with 2010EPA emissions requirements.

According to Eric Smith, National Sales Manager for HMC, "the new Hino 198 will have the extra power and performance requested of our light duty trucks by Canadian customers."

The new model will be assembled at Hino's Canadian assembly plant located in Woodstock, Ontario.

Hino Motors Canada Announces the Release of its 2011 Model Medium Duty Truck Line-up

July 23, 2010 (Mississauga, ON) – Hino Motors Canada, Ltd. will release its newly re-designed 2011 medium duty truck ("MDT") line-up in September.

The 2011 MDT line-up will feature a bold new design and functional improvements to enhance the trucks' flexibility and driver comfort, efficiency and safety. The MDT's will also feature significant technological improvements to meet new emissions regulations.

Styling improves with a new hood and front grille. Driver comfort is enhanced with the addition of a driver's seat armrest. Driver safety and efficiency improves with the addition of a Bluetooth-enabled GPS stereo and a new easy to read driver information display.

The 2011 MDT line-up features several technological enhancements.

All 2011 Hino MDT’s will utilize Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) to fully comply with 2010EPA emissions requirements. Hino's application of the technology is also expected to reduce fuel consumption by 3%-5%.

The 2011 Hino 338 will receive a boost in power to 260 hp while the torque on the Hino 358 increases to 660 lbs-ft. The changes will improve the throttle response and driveability of both models. Front axle capacity on the Hino 358 increases to 14,000 lbs.

A 'clean chassis' option will be available for the Hino 268, 338 and 358. By transferring parts previously mounted on the outside of the frame rails behind the cab, this configuration will be ideal for beverage bodies, car carrier configurations and other applications.

According to Eric Smith, National Sales Manager, "The launch of these new trucks is a milestone for Hino. The trucks have been redesigned virtually from the ground, up. Drivers will notice the bold new styling in addition to chassis and power train refinements. The environment will benefit from advanced SCR emissions controls that are fully EPA2010 emissions compliant. New chassis configurations and power improvements will open up new market opportunities for our products."

The new trucks will be assembled at Hino's Canadian assembly plant located in Woodstock, Ontario.
